ECOLOGICAL PRESERVATION - NEED OF THE HOUR...

With the fast increasing development activities on our planet the equilibrium of ecosystems, ecological preservation and human activities in tune with the ecosystem is the need of the hour. We all have to work for a Green Heritage and put in sustained efforts for the preservation of the same. Ecological preservation encompasses plethora of activities.
Let us see few of the activities which can contribute to save our mankind and planet.
Tree plantation and their upkeep in our neighborhood, schools and workplace will not only ensure pollution-free environment but also conserve rich top soil from getting washed away in heavy rains/floods.
Converting organic waste into high quality compost by Vermi-composting technique using earthworms. This will produce superior quality manure to feed our “nutrient/organic matter hungry soils”.
Pisciculture or fish farming is the breeding, rearing and transplantation of fish by artificial means. This method requires small area and relatively small amounts of water. Fish reared ere are free of diseases, pesticide and other harmful toxicants.
Apiculture or beekeeping is the breeding, rearing and maintenance of honeybee colonies, commonly in hives. Besides production of honey, bees also ensure pollination in flowers.
Solar Power Plants can be easily put in the open spaces/rooftops to tap vast solar energy radiated by the Sun. Solar Water heaters are another good option.  Petroleum fuel products besides being scarce causes pollution in environment.
Jatropa tree plantation is also finding gradual use as a diesel substitute by scientists. Hence several land owners are planting these trees.
Use  LED lights in homes and offices as these consume very less power and have long life.
Strict ban on use of plastics and plastic bags as they cause pollution, choke drains and are unpleasantly scattered all around. Moreover, they are non- biodegradable.
Hence, it is high time we become conscious of the damages being caused to the environment by our day-to-day activities. We frequently see/read in television/newspapers about the unprecedented weather conditions like floods, heavy snow-fall, earthquakes, etc. in different countries. A little effort by all of us will keep our planet earth protected, for future generations to continue enjoying vast natural resources & live a healthy life.
